This shoot was as much about adaptability as artistry. While traveling with family, I carved out one afternoon to capture Levanto, a serene coastal town just north of Cinque Terre, knowing I’d have only 20 minutes of flight time to tell its story.
Before arriving, I obtained an Italian flying license, researched local drone laws, mapped weather and wind patterns, and planned routes to ensure I could reach a legal launch point in time for sunset, yet still catch the last train back. Once on-site, the light shifted quickly; I had to balance composition, altitude, and exposure on the fly to frame the terracotta rooftops, curved coastline, and gold-hued reflections across the sea.
Back home, I edited and color-graded in Adobe Premiere Pro, refining contrast and warmth to preserve the feeling of the setting sun. I paired the visuals with Italian-inspired music to echo the rhythm and romance of the landscape, creating a sensory balance between sight and sound.
Though brief, the project reflects what I love most about aerial cinematography: capturing atmosphere within constraint and finding beauty in motion.
